This painting of Eastern Cottontails (Sylvilagus floridanus) is dedicated to the memory of my dear friend, Regan Russel (1955 – 2020). The species did not arrive here in Ontario until around 1860, but since then it has spread widely, as far north as the southern boreal regions of central Ontario.
