Cape Eagle-Owl (Bubo capensis mackinderi)
The Cape Eagle-Owl is found in southern Africa and parts of East Africa. In this watercolour painting I have shown the race sometimes called Mackinder’s Eagle-Owl, (Bubo capensis kinderi), a more northern subspecies found from Kenya south to the northern sections of southern Africa, sometimes considered to be a distinctly separate species. They are often found on rocky hillsides, but also woodlands and human communities where semi-domestic Rock Pigeons and rats provide abundant food. This painting is in gouache watercolours on paper. 15 X 20 inches. $650 framed.
