Description
The Red-throated Loon (Gavia stellata) has a Holarctic distribution, meaning it if found across the northern hemisphere, nesting in arctic and subarctic regions of North America and Eurasia, mostly spending the winter along coastlines. Outside of North America loons are called divers, and they do, indeed dive in search of food and other marine life, and a small amount of vegetation. These loons may mate for many consecutive seasons, are monogamous and both parents build nests, incubate eggs and care for babies, usually two. The painting is 18 by 24 inches, acrylic on compressed hardboard. $700.00. Sold.
