Artist's Description
The Red-crowned Barbet (Psilopogon rafflesia) is native to the tropical and subtropical rainforests, woodlands and plantations of a wide area of southeast Asia. Both the New World Barbets, now considered to belong to a separate family of birds, and the Old World ones, now placed in the family Megalaimidae, are among my very favorite birds, both to see and to draw and paint.
