Title
Blue-winged Teal Taking Off
Artist
Barry Kent MacKay
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Birch Panel
Description
The Blue-winged Teal (Anas discors) is native to North America, where it is quite common, wintering as far south as the West Indies and Central America. This painting shows a trio springing up into the air, as teal do (unlike “diving ducks” who run along the water to get airborne) and was reproduced as the cover of the 100th anniversary issue of Ontario Birds, journal of the Ontario Field Ornithologists. This is one of very few paintings I’ve done larger than life size, in in acrylic on birch panel and is 30 X 24 inches
