This painting shows an Asian species, the Black-tailed Gull (Larus crassirostris), which I saw in Japan, in the core of its range. This painting, of an adult in winter plumage, was the cover of a journal featuring an article about a wayward bird occurring in Ontario. The painting was done in acrylics on compressed hardboard and is 18” X 12”. .
